Welcoming Omnium's Winter 2025 Interns: A Season of Growth and Innovation

Omnium is delighted to introduce our talented cohort of Winter interns. We welcome Jonathan and Nicole to the Toronto office & Frances, Jenny, and Zac to San Francisco!

Frances Grout

is a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco with a degree in mathematics. Although she initially pursued psychology, Frances’s enthusiasm for mathematics blossomed during a pivotal statistics course, leading her to switch majors. Her passion for logic puzzles was ignited during her first proof course, solidifying her dedication to the field.

Frances is eager to expand her expertise in mathematical modeling and explore its application within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry during her time at Omnium. Her role will focus on integrating advanced mathematical techniques to contribute to innovative solutions and drive industry advancements.

Aside from her professional pursuits, Frances enjoys an active lifestyle, engaging in co-ed recreational soccer and immersing herself in the natural beauty of the Bay Area. A devoted supporter of local sports, she follows football, baseball, and both collegiate and professional basketball, as well as local soccer teams. Frances is also committed to making a social impact as an educator, helping young women in San Francisco bridge gaps in their mathematics understanding.

Jenny Brown

is originally from New York and recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in statistics and data science. Her academic journey continues with a Master of Engineering in Data Science at UPenn.

Jenny's enthusiasm for data analytics was ignited during her initial statistics course, where she discovered her love for tackling complex problems and transforming raw data into meaningful insights. This passion was further fueled by her internship experience at P&G, where she adeptly converted data into actionable business strategies, optimizing decision-making processes and delivering tangible value.

Eager to deepen her understanding of the CPG industry, Jenny is excited to apply her skills in real-world scenarios during her internship with Omnium. Her role will focus on leveraging data and technology to drive strategic initiatives and enhance our business operations.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Jenny enjoys traveling, having recently visited Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. She also delights in cooking and exploring new coffee shops. On her days off, she cherishes spending time with her friends, family, and beloved pug Theo.

Zachary Nelson

is a recent graduate from UC Berkeley with a double major in Data Science and Cognitive Science. Zac is keenly interested in the intersection of math and cognition, particularly through the lens of machine learning. His academic pursuits have equipped him with a robust understanding of data-driven methodologies and cognitive frameworks, skills that he looks forward to applying to address the needs of Omnium’s clients.

Deeply passionate about addressing climate change, Zac aspires to leverage his data science expertise to contribute to sustainable solutions within the food and agriculture industry. His enthusiasm for this internship stems from a desire to gain practical experience in a fast-paced setting and to enhance his collaborative skills while learning more about industry-specific challenges and innovations.

Outside of his professional interests, Zac embraces an active lifestyle. An avid surfer and rock climber, he finds solace in nature, whether he's catching waves at the beach or scaling new heights on a rock face. On his days off, he enjoys exploring hiking trails and immersing himself in the natural beauty of the Bay Area.

Nicole Mathis

is currently pursuing a double degree in Mathematics at the University of Waterloo and Business at Wilfrid Laurier University, a testament to her deep-seated passion for numbers and data-driven decision-making. Her academic journey has been enriched by a diverse range of experiences, including an exchange semester in Norway in Fall 2024 and a previous internship at Omnium in Winter 2024, where she first delved into the intersections of data science and business solutions.

At Omnium, Nicole is eager to further refine her technical skills in data science and enhance her client communication abilities. She is drawn to Omnium’s dynamic environment that fosters learning, collaboration, and enjoyment, providing a fertile ground for both personal and professional growth.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Nicole leads an active and varied lifestyle. She competed on the Varsity Cheerleading team at the University of Waterloo from 2022 to 2023. In her leisure time, Nicole enjoys reading fiction, rock climbing, and crafting pottery. Her ideal day off is spent poolside with a book in hand during the summer or cozy in bed with Netflix during the colder months.

Nicole's journey in her second internship at Omnium promises to be one of growth and exploration, as she leverages her statistical expertise and business insights to contribute meaningfully to the team's strategic initiatives.

Jonathan Leung

is pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Combinatorics & Optimization at the University of Waterloo. His journey began in Hong Kong, where a secondary school teacher opened his eyes to the world of competitive programming. This introduction not only honed his skills in data structures and algorithms but also secured him a place on the Hong Kong training team, igniting a lasting passion for Computer Science.

Drawn to Omnium’s structured training program, Jonathan is eager to work on impactful business challenges, particularly within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sector. Here, he aims to deepen his understanding of statistical techniques and gain invaluable industry knowledge.

Whether he's singing, playing the piano, or delving into the intricacies of machine learning, his varied interests reflect a well-rounded personality. He also finds joy in culinary experiments and revisiting video games from his youth.
