Adam & Johnny Represent at the Excel World Championships

One of the key duties of our job at Omnium is to find patterns and trends in vast quantities of data and determine business implications. While our team of talented data scientists employs advanced mathematical models - we also utilize the same spreadsheet software used by millions daily - Microsoft Excel.

Earlier this year, founding partners Adam Carter and Colin Davidson entered the Excel World Championship, consisting of 9 rounds of online competitions in which the top performers moved to a bracket of 128 to compete for 16 spots in the live finals at the Luxor in Las Vegas last weekend. Contestants are given just 30 minutes to solve complex tasks, earning points along the way.

Ever calm under pressure, Adam placed 3rd in a nailbiting semifinal heat and took 6th in the finals. Our founder & CEO Johnny Valeriote also traveled to Vegas and earned one of 8 coveted spots in the onsite last chance qualifier semifinal with the highest score in that round. Unfortunately, Johnny was ousted during the aggressive timed elimination which knocks out competitors from the bottom of the rankings every few minutes. You can watch the replay here.

The experience was exhilarating for our two competitors AND all of the Omnium team and alumni watching and commenting online. The precedent is now set. Several Omnium employees are already practicing and planning to enter the competition in 2024.
